CITIZENS COMMUNITIES
Sign-ups
You were made for relationship – relationship with God and relationship with others. Over the past few years, we’ve all experienced what it’s like to live without our normal relational spaces. It’s been reminder that we aren’t self-sufficient. We deeply need other people. And virtual relationships aren’t enough. We need embodied presence. We need community, and our city does too.
Jesus invites us to live life in a community where we are known, loved, and empowered to extend the love of God to those around us.
What are Citizens Communities?
Citizens Communities are groups of 8 to 15 individuals who commit to living as family, servants, and missionaries for a school year. As family, we love one another; as servants, we serve the needs of those inside and outside our community; and as missionaries, we help one another embody and share the gospel all week long.
How often do they meet?
Each Citizens Community meets in a home weekly – on a consistent weekday evening or weekend afternoon. These meetings alternate between larger family meals with discussion and smaller “Huddles,” where men and women meet separately for deeper connection, study, and prayer. Regardless, there is only one meeting per week.
How long is the commitment?
Citizens Communities follow a typical school year – August through May – with a break in December for the holidays.
So that communities start off well, all Citizens Communities begin with a three-week-long primer, which helps communities form deeper relationships with one another and share stories, reflect on the biblical precedent for community, establish shared expectations, language, and tools, and dream about the future of their community.
How do I participate in a Citizens Community?
We’d love to connect you to a community. To register, just fill out the short form at the link below by August 4th. By mid August, we’ll follow up with you to confirm your group. Communities will begin the week of August 20th.
